Life happens. Sometimes you are granted what you want- a long, fruitful life, and sometimes you are not. Most of us live as if there is all the time in the world to do what we want to do, to leave the legacy we are here to make.

Not to be morose, but we live in this fantasy of someday.

Living in that fantasy robs us of being fully satisfied daily and robs the world of our contribution.

I am not a country music fan but appreciate the genre, and the lyrics of Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” speak volumes. This part of his song:

I took a good, long, hard look
At what I’d do if I could do it all again
And then
I went skydiving
I went Rocky Mountain climbing
I went 2.7 seconds on a bull named Fumanchu
And I loved deeper
And I spoke sweeter
And I gave forgiveness I’d been denying
And he said
Someday I hope you get the chance
To live like you were dying
Like tomorrow was a gift
And you’ve got eternity
To think about
What you’d do with it
What could you do with it?
What did I do with it?
What would I do with it?”

The question is what are you doing with it- with your time? What are you waiting for?

Where are you waiting until it is ‘right’ before taking the leap?

Where have you not shared your gifts because it is not ‘perfect yet’?

What are you holding onto and making yourself wrong for, withholding grace to yourself?

Here is what I know for sure after talking to thousands of people- if you had answers to the questions above- you can do something about it. You CAN get in ACTION. You can get at risk- because no matter what, you will survive the thing you are afraid of.

Mostly, why people wait is due to fear. (FEAR: False Evidence Appears Real). See if this fits- you will do whatever it is you are wanting to do when you are certain or fairly certain it will work. This can be anything from saying something to an employer about a new position or what your ultimate goal is professionally. Or if you are an entrepreneur and going for new business, you will diminish yourself and convince yourself you are not ready or do the deadly comparison where you gather evidence that you are not good enough!

Here is the thing- STOP IT! You are awesome, and your gifts are wanted and needed in the world.

If you have made mistakes in the past, forgive yourself and put them in the past. The lessons you have learned are valuable. Be grateful for them. Move on.

You have a legacy to leave, a contribution to give. If you are waiting for someday, that day is today.

All I want for you is for you to LOVE your life, experience fulfillment and share your gifts with the world.
